Rwanda’s Caroline Umukobwa Connects African Talent with Employers

After completing her studies and building a career in civil engineering in the United States, she transitioned to project and program management, with a focus on technology. Concerned about Africa's development, she now provides international employment opportunities for young talent from the continent.

Caroline Umukobwa (photo) is a Rwandan entrepreneur and the CEO/co-founder of Kazi Konekt, a startup aimed at empowering freelancers in Africa by establishing a robust employment marketplace. 

Founded in 2023, Kazi Konekt offers an AI-based platform that provides Africans with access to a global network, income opportunities, career development resources, and more. The startup's goal is to unlock the untapped potential of African talent, reduce unemployment, and stimulate economic growth.

Currently, Caroline Umukobwa is the technical program manager for the engineering team at Microsoft's Customer Experience Platform (CXP). She joined the American tech giant in 2021 as a program manager, leading a team of data engineers and analysts overseeing the adoption of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions.

Born and raised in Rwanda, Caroline pursued her studies at Seattle University in the United States, where she earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Her professional career began in 2013 as an administrator for Educat, a nonprofit organization promoting entrepreneurship in Rwanda.

In 2018, she joined LPD Engineering PLLC, a US-based civil engineering design and consulting firm, as a civil engineer. By 2019, she had become an investment project manager for the wastewater treatment division of King County, Washington.
